Over the next few weeks we will be taking up a collection of items to donate to a shelter in Dong Nai that provides care to mentally and physically disabled residents of all ages, from children to the elderly.
Donations needed include toiletries, towels, blankets, flip flops, and gently used adult and children's clothing. You can bring your donations to the June 15th and 22nd Coffee Mornings. Thanks for your anticipated generosity and assistance.
If you have any questions, please contact Pärla via email at: email@example.com.
June Highlights, Part 3:
Workshop on Online Security
Thursday, June 8
In light of all the online security threats that we have faced globally in the last few weeks, we all need to place a little more awareness in our own internet security.
There were 15 ladies attending the workshop, which was given by Brian Caleda, Director of iknow. We learned a lot about online security threats, how to identify them, how to get rid of them, and most importantly, how to prevent them from happening in the first place. It was a really good workshop, and we hope to have Brian return for more workshops in the fall. Thanks for sharing your expertise, Brian!

Here in Ho Chi Minh City, we receive around 90% of our drinking water from two treatment plants on the Dong Nai River and the smaller Sai Gon River. There were eleven of us who got to visit the plants to see how their work is done.
We traveled by bus, boarding on Han Thuyen Street in D1, to the River Intake Site on the bank of the Dong Nai River then moved on to the Water Treatment Plant. We divided up for lunch, with part of the group stopping for lunch in Thao Dien, and the others heading in to D1. It was a super trip, and everyone had a great time. Thanks, Mary, for another awesome outing!

An Outing to the Mekong Delta on
Wednesday, May 17th
A great time was had by all ILV members who attended the Mekong Delta outing! Everyone boarded an air-conditioned bus to My Tho City, then cruised the Mekong in open ferry-type boats.
The group observed how fish are farmed beneath the floating houses first, then went to Unicorn Island, where they were taken by horse cart to enjoy a performance of traditional Vietnamese music (Đàn Ca Tài Tử - A folk art form from Southern Vietnam accredited by UNESCO in 2013 as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity).
Next up was a snack of seasonal fruit then a ride in small rowboats to float down a creek featuring beautiful overhanging coconut trees. The trip included a visit to a bee farm to enjoy honey tea, a Vietnamese lunch, and a visit to a village to see how traditional Vietnamese coconut candy is produced.
See the Photo Gallery for lots of photos of this fun event. And keep an eye on this page for information on our outing for June!
